The SEVA foundry and its know-how

Each year the SEVA foundry produces between 250 and 300 tons of parts in heat-resistant and stainless steels, nickel and cobalt-based alloys.

It makes use of its know-how in moulding, casting and metallurgy to manufacture parts or products with a high added value. Besides, the industrial facilities of the foundry are significant and enable us to work out outstanding alloys and to cast high-quality parts.

The casting

The SEVA foundry uses a patented counter-gravity casting process (LPSC) operated on an industrial scale since the 80's.

Its principle consists in filling up the moulds from the bottom upwards by applying a gas pressure in a heated vessel containing the liquid metal.

The process uses conventional sand moulds or ceramic shells (Replicast^® process).

The sand moulding

The SEVA foundry uses a sand moulding installation (no-bake, gas and self-hardening moulding process).

The sand moulding facilities are suited to produce single parts or small series with a weight ranging from a few pounds to 750 kg.

The ceramic moulding : Replicast^®

The SEVA foundry is a licensee of Replicast^®, a registered trademark of a process patented by Castings Technology International in Sheffield (United Kingdom). Related to lost wax techniques but using a polystyrene pattern, the Replicast^® pro-
cess varies from them by its shorter lead-time and its capability of moulding large dimensional parts.

The parts produced through the Replicast^® process are dimensionally precise and show a good surface finishing (Ra = 6 to 7 µm).

The heat treatment

The SEVA foundry uses 3 electric furnaces for heat treatment.

These furnaces carry out heat treatment till 1,200°C with the possibility of making it under neutral atmosphere.

The furnaces are equipped with a quick air-cooling system.

The melting

The SEVA foundry uses 4 medium-frequency induction furnaces.

These furnaces are equipped with the Gravital process which enables the working-out of the alloys under the protection of a liquid neutral gas such as argon. This protection ensures a very good cleanliness and a minimal content of dissolved gas in the cast alloys.
